Application Procedure For Admission

  • Applications are to be submitted through JAM 2024 website between April 10 and April 29, 2024.
  • Applications for Admissions must be submitted online at https://joaps.iitm.ac.in by paying a non-refundable application fee of ₹750/-.
  • Only candidates in the JAM 2024 Merit List will be eligible to apply for admission. Irrespective of whether a candidate appears in the Merit List of one or two Test Papers, only one duly completed Application Form should be submitted.
  • The Application Form in the admission portal will be pre-filled with (i) name, (ii) category, (iii) date of birth, (iv) Gender, (v) PwD Status, (vi) parent's/guardian's name, (vii) mobile number, (viii) email id, (ix) photograph, (x) signature, (xi) Category certificate and (xii) Physical Disability Certificate using the information provided during the application process for JAM Examination (or, corrected subsequent to the exam).
  • The candidates are requested to verify the details on the candidate portal (https://joaps.iitm.ac.in) before the start of the admission process and contact the Organizing Institute, in case of any discrepancy.
  • Based on the Test Paper(s) qualified, a Candidate can apply to one or more academic programmes covered under that Test Paper(s), subject to the fulfilment of the Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) of the respective Admitting Institute.
  • All programmes to which the candidate is seeking admission must be selected, in the order of preference, during the application filling.
  • The candidates will not be able to change the choices or their preferences after the last date of application submission.

The following information will be required while filling the form at JOAPS portal:

  • Personal information (Blood Group, Nationality, Address for communication including PIN code)
  • Qualifying degree Details and Academic Programme Details

  • Nationality Certificate:
    You have to upload one of the following Certificates for Nationality.
    a. Birth Certificate
    b. Voter Id
    c. First page of Passport
    d. School Transfer Certificate (TC) showing Nationality
    e. Nationality Certificate issued by the authorized government agency.
    Some of the documents that are NOT accepted for Nationality are:
    Aadhar Card, Ration Card, Bank Passbook, Marksheet, PAN Card, Driving License, School/ College ID etc.

    Please note that Nationality Certificate has to be submitted to the Admitting Institute at the time of admission.
  • X standard (SSC) Marksheet/Certificate.
  • XII standard (HSC) Marksheet/Certificate.
  • Marksheet of First Year of Qualifying Degree. If certificates are available as per semester, combine the certificates of 1st and 2nd semester.
  • Marksheet of Second Year of Qualifying Degree. If certificates are available as per semester, combine the certificates of 3rd and 4th semester.
  • If available, Marksheet of Third Year of Qualifying Degree. If certificates are available as per semester, combine the certificates of 5th and 6th semester.
  • If applicable, Marksheet of Fourth Year of Qualifying Degree. If certificates are available as per semester, combine the certificates of 7th and 8th semester.
  • If applicable, Marksheet of Fifth Year of Qualifying Degree. If certificates are available as per semester, combine the certificates of 9th and 10th semester.
  • If available, a consolidated Marksheet of all the years/semesters of the qualifying degree can be uploaded.
  • Degree/Provisional certificate , if available.

  • If applicable, OBC (NCL)/ EWS/ SC/ ST Certificate in the specified format. Click here
  • If applicable, PwD Certificate in the specified format.Click here
Note: Name of the candidate in the application form must exactly be the same as per Qualifying degree.

  1. Select the institute from the drop down menu.
  2. Select the programme from the drop down menu.
  3. Click on "Add Preference" to add the selected programme, one at a time. The list of selected programmes can be seen below the opening and closing rank table.
  4. Use the upward arrow () to move a programme up in the list of choices. Note that the programme with 1 as preference is the most preferred program and 2 is the second most preferred program and so on. Use the downward arrow () to move a programme down in the list of choices. You can apply for any number of eligible programmes.
  5. Click on the "Remove" button to remove a programme from the list of choice. If you happen to accidental remove a programme from the list, you can add the programme again by selecting it through the drop down menu(s).
  6. Hover over any chosen programme and use your mouse to drag and change its position in the list of choices.

Application Procedure

Candidates can apply for JAM 2024 only through JAM Online Application Processing System (JOAPS) available through "Candidate Portal" button on the website https://jam.iitm.ac.in from September 5, 2023 to October 25, 2023. Candidates have to first register on JOAPS website, by providing their name, a valid e-mail address, an active mobile number and setting a password. Upon successful registration, candidate's Enrolment ID and OTP will be sent to the e-mail address and mobile number provided by the candidate. The candidate needs to use this Enrolment ID or e-mail address along with the password for submitting the application. Candidates are advised to keep the Enrolment ID and the password safe and confidential.

JOAPS portal provides an online interface to the candidate for interacting with the JAM 2024 Administration. With this interface, a candidate can:

  • Apply for the examination online.
  • Upload photograph, signature, and other documents like certificate (for OBC-NCL / EWS / SC / ST / PwD)
  • Pay the application fee through any of the electronic payment modes.
  • Check the status of the application form such as Received, Under scrutiny, Accepted, Defect status, Status after rectification, Rejected with valid reasons, and Admit card ready for download.

The following information will be required while filling the form at JOAPS portal:
  • Personal information (name, e-mail id, date of birth, mobile number, parent's/guardian's name, parent's/ guardian's mobile number, etc.)
  • Name of the candidate in the application form must exactly be the same as per Qualifying degree.
  • JAM 2024 Admit Card and Scorecard will be issued as per the name entered in the application form. Prefix/title such as Mr/Shri/Dr/Ms/Mrs/Smt, etc. should NOT be used.
  • Address for communication including PIN code
  • Details of Eligibility degree
  • Name and address with PIN code of the College/Institute/University
  • Choice of JAM Test Paper(s)
  • Choice of JAM Examination Cities
  • Details of the Photo Identity Document (ID). Any one of the following Photo ID: Aadhaar ID, Driving License, PAN Card, Passport, or Voter ID. The specified Photo Id, in original, should be carried by the candidate to the examination centre.
  • Document to be Upload:
  • Scanned copy of High-quality image of the candidate's photograph and signature
  • Scanned copy of 10th standard (SSC) Marksheet.
  • Scanned copy of the Category (OBC-NCL/EWS/SC/ST) Certificate (if applicable) as per guidelines Click here

  • Mode of Payment's Net banking / Debit card / Credit card / UPI details for fee payment. The application fee will be automatically determined based on the category, gender, and number of Test Paper(s) that have been opted by the candidate.refer Fees Details
  • JOAPS allows the candidate to enter the data, save a partially filled form, log out and resume filling by logging in again. The JOAPS portal is self-explanatory and user-friendly.

Note:
  1. Candidates are strongly advised to fill the application form on their own. If someone else is filling the application on behalf of the candidate, the candidate must ensure that the data submitted are correct.
  2. Candidates must give an e-mail address that they use frequently, as all communication to the candidate for JAM 2024 will be sent to this e-mail address.
  3. The candidate must not use somebody else's e-mail address and only one candidate can be registered with one E-mail address.
  4. Similarly, candidates should provide their personal mobile number and are advised to use the same number until the admission is completed because most of the communication may also be sent via SMS.
  5. A candidate should submit only one application form even if the candidate wants to appear for two Test Papers. Multiple applications submitted by a candidate are liable for rejection. Hence, DO NOT submit multiple application forms.
  6. Applicants are requested to periodically check the website for the status of the application or/and information. They should also check the messages sent to their registered email id and mobile number.


Note:

  • Candidates are strongly advised to fill the application form on their own. If someone else is filling the application on behalf of the candidate, the candidate must ensure that the data submitted are correct
  • Verification of Minimum Educational Qualifications (MEQs) and Eligibility Requirements (ERs) for admission is the prerogative of the Admitting Institutes only and the Organizing Institute will not respond to any queries in this regard.
  • The offer of admission to a candidate will be provisional, subject to the fulfillment of all the requirements by the dates specified.
  • Candidates should note that being in the Merit List of any test paper neither guarantees nor provides any automatic entitlement for admission. Admissions shall be made in the order of merit and depending on the availability of seats at the Admitting Institute.​
